Basic web design since 1995

The Internet (the Web) is the modern version of the "Yellow Pages". Customers look on the web to see if you're "real" and find out more about you. The web lets you make a much larger presence than the Yellow pages but the idea is the same. A web site tells them about you and your business and your products or services and how to contact you.

In addition to 'regular' pages, I can put up Contact Forms (with anti-spam coding), Event Calendars, several kinds of Photo Galleries, Photo Slideshow, MP3 music (I can edit music files to make clips), Location maps, Databases, and Blog Software. All of these pages are used in one or more of my sites listed below. I just installed a WordPress blog software demo for you to look at at www.dibsplace.com/diblog/.

I started with very basic sites in 1995 for my own needs. I have expanded along the way to include more graphics and programming. Check out the sample pages and the old versions of this page at the left. The old versions were all table-based. This one is 'table-free' which is the 'new' way to design web pages. I'm constantly learning new ways and methods. Here are the usual names and acronyms for the technologies I use: HTML, CSS, XHTML, DHTML, Javascript, AJAX, Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, SEO, sitemaps, hand coding. I also have a limited familiarity with IIS and ASP.

I concentrate on design and maintenance for inexpensive, affordable web sites. If you have a really big project, do a Google search for "Sacramento Web Design", you will find plenty of people to help you. I'm learning about CMS (Content Management Systems) so I can do larger projects in the future. I have a number of clients that needed just maintenance and updates and so far I haven't found anything but flash sites that I couldn't help with. I have also updated, converted and maintained sites done in Dreamweaver, Adobe Go Live, Microsoft Publisher and Front Page, and Apple's iWeb.

Below are the sites that I have designed and maintain along with other information about the technologies and software that I use. Several sites including my Music pages use databases to generate displays and provide event calendars. I also create sitemaps and upload them to Google so people can find your site. Basic SEO with appropriate keywords and descriptions for each page is standard practice.

Hope to hear from you soon.
